Match Your Cofounder connects future cofounders. To do it properly, we process some of your personal data. Here is which data, why, for how long, and the rights you have. We've kept it concrete and honest.
Who is responsible for your data?
The data controller is Match Your Cofounder ASBL, a non-profit association under Belgian law, based in Liège, Belgium. You can contact us at any time at hello@matchyourcofounder.com for any question relating to your data.
The full legal details of the association (CBE company number and registered office) will be specified here as soon as the incorporation formalities are completed.
What data do we collect?
Depending on how you use the service, we collect:
- Your email address, verified at first login by a magic link, and your password (stored only in hashed form, never in plain text).
- The answers in your profile: identity (first name, last name, city, country), phone number, LinkedIn and portfolio links, background and skills, project or search for a project, availability, vision, cofounder preferences and answers to the questionnaires.
- Your CV, if you choose to upload it (uploading is optional).
- The time-stamped record of your consents and internal team notes relating to the review of your profile.
Why do we use it?
Your data is used solely to suggest relevant introductions between cofounders. In practice: our team reviews profiles by hand to identify pairings that hold together, then contacts you when an introduction makes sense.
We never resell your data. We do not share it with third parties for advertising purposes.
On what legal basis?
The processing is based on your consent, which you give explicitly when you sign up and again when you finish creating your profile, through time-stamped checkboxes. You can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your account.
How long do we keep it?
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, your profile, your answers and your CV are erased from our servers. Certain strictly necessary records (an anonymized internal note, for example) may remain for internal follow-up purposes, without making it possible to identify you.
Where is your data hosted?
Your data is hosted on Infomaniak servers located in Switzerland and the European Union. Your CV is stored in a dedicated file space, accessible only to you and the team. To run the service, we rely on GDPR-compliant processors: Infomaniak (hosting), Resend (service emails) and PostHog (audience measurement, EU region, enabled only after your consent).
What are your rights?
In accordance with the GDPR, you have the following rights:
- Right of access: to see the data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification: to correct or complete your answers directly from your profile.
- Right to erasure: to delete your account and all your data from the dedicated section of your profile, or by writing to us.
- Right to object and right to data portability: write to us for any specific request.
To exercise these rights, write to us at hello@matchyourcofounder.com. You can also lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (autoriteprotectiondonnees.be).

We use the cookies strictly necessary for the service to work, in particular to keep you signed in after a magic link. If you accept via the dedicated banner, we also enable PostHog audience measurement (EU region) to understand how the site is used. No advertising cookies, no tracking for commercial purposes.
